Maud and Horace Robinson

Grandfather Horace Frederick was born on either Flinders or Long Island and raised at Badger Corner and the second youngest child and son of James and Emily.

Grandmother Maud Maria was born on Flinders and raised on the Samphire – Grandma was the

17 November 1914 collection for the war fund Horace Holt, siblings and cousins who donated.

3 July 1923 – accidental shooting at elbook – upper Samphire – notes of Horace and Dick Holt, Henry and Walter Briant, Mr Coster also EW Stephens who I am sure wrote the article. Dad doesn’t recall ever hearing this story, so interesting to read now.

Horace and Maud were instrumental in getting the Island News off the ground – Horace was in charge of marketing.Dad remembers going with him to seek out sponsorships from the many business’ in Launceston – eventually Horace approached the Examiner and they ran an article including his photo – marvellous results in raising the required support The article with photo was published on 24 July 1954 – July August and September not digitised.

Horace and George Davey were good buddies and were well known for their pranks.
